AMERSHAM Hill were frustrated in their attempts to re-assert themselves at the top of the league when bottom of the table Kingshill held them to a draw.
Having seen a 30-point lead whittled down to four points because of inactivity last week, Amersham Hill made a great start, with openers Dean Robinson and Andy Harrison posting 70 in the first 10 overs – Robinson making a half century.
After his departure for a fine 69, Harrison was joined by Majib Rehman (72 not out) who took over the Robinson mantle and dispatched the bowling to all corners.
Kingshill were wilting in the fierce heat and with skipper Harrison moving on to a superbly crafted century (104) Hill posted a commanding 311-4 declared.
But while Kingshill lost a couple of quick wickets, the Hill were unable to build on their excellent start and some indifferent bowling and some resolute, if negative, batting saw let the league strugglers off the hook.
At least second placed Waltham lost ground. They were beaten at Coleshill, leaving Amersham Hill with a 14 point lead and a game in hand.
