Young Chalfont St Peter struggles valiantly against strong Yeading

A VERY young Chalfont St Peter second XI – seven players from the young cricketers section played - lost by five wickets to a very strong Yeading.

Elliot Beaver with 32 and Mike McGrory 14 were the only notable scores as Chalfont fell away for only 77.

Despite a good effort in the field, which at one stage reduced Yeading to 40- 5, the Chalfont total proved too small to defend.

Pete Doorman picked up two wickets, while Harry Tyler and Elliot Beaver also claimed a scalp each.
The Sunday Thirds were beaten by Huntswood Golf Club in an unusual hybrid challenge match involving both golf and cricket.

Huntwood GC established a 56-run lead from their golf Stableford score to leave Chalfont chasing 212 off 30 overs to claim overall victory.
The on-form Dan Webb (81 not out) did his best, with Keith Neave providing good support early on in a partnership of 61.

Webb, who made way for others to have a knock, returned to break his bat hitting a mighty six into the golf course, but the team fell 10 runs short.

There were nice cameos from Dave Nolder and his wife Ros, but Webb claimed the champagne moment for a stunning catch.
