HAWRIDGE & Cholesbury were involved in a thrilling tie against Wraysbury, when Nick Jones was caught off a full-blooded drive going for the winning hit.
Jones, who had just hit a four to level the scores at 142 each was looking to repeat the trick as Hawridge sought nine from the final wicket.
Wraysbury got off to a fast start but lost steady wickets and were 78-5 after 15 overs.
Skipper Gordon Morgan steadied the ship, scoring 57.
Suranga Daluwatta, having a fine season with the ball, finished with figures of 3-28 off 12 overs.
But if Hawridge thought they had the job done, they were soon left with other ideas after slipping to 72-6 after 12 overs.
Captain Steve White joined Paul Smith at the wicket to put on 42 for the next wicket before being given out LBW – one of five given against Hawridge in the innings.
The experienced Neil and Nick Jones took turns with Smith (47) but after Smith's departure, it was down to Nick Jones and he just fell one run short.
