AMERSHAM Hill maintained their 34-point lead at the top of Chiltern Morrant League Division Two with a comprehensive victory over third-placed Hurley.
The visitors had not tasted defeat this season and arrived with hopes of upsetting Hill's great start to the campaign but they fell 65 runs shy of Amersham's winning total of 251 all out.
Hill captain Andrew Harrison opted to have first bat on an excel-lent batting track and Hill made steady progress, with both openers getting starts.
The innings really took off when number three Stuart Scott came to the crease. He put some recent poor form behind him to hit a rapid 54.
Hill had a mini collapse once Scott was out and it was left to bowler Greg Mackenzie to accompany the tail. He made an impressive 42 not out.
In reply, Hurley looked capable of chasing down the total for a while but they lost wickets regular-ly, with Mackenzie taking an excel-lent 3-29 with his well flighted off spinners.
Hill eventually wrapped things up with 10 overs to spare, leaving Hurley 186 all out.
