Chesham RFC skipper upbeat despite back-to-back defeats

CHESHAM Rugby Club captain Gareth Werhle is confident they are close to picking up their first win of the season.

The Stags lost 10-0 to Farnham Royal on the first day of the season but put in an improved performance in their 7-5 weekend defeat to Barwell in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon 1 North division.

Werhle said: “The boys played incredibly well, winning nearly all of our essential battles. We played out of skins and battled all the way to the end of the game, bit it just wasn't to be.

“I feel that this close loss will fire up the team for next week's home game against Kingsclere where I believe we can come away with the win."
