ADAM Batty won the Hazlemere Club Championship for the second year running last week - and received a tweet of recognition from the world's number one golfer.
On the first day, Batty, who plays off +1, was trailing leader Adam Birdseye by one shot, but then came good on the second day in blustery conditions to finish with an overall two under par total of 138.
The champion immediately tweeted former Hazlemere Junior Champion Luke Donald with his result and the south Bucks golfer - who is back at the top of world golf again and earned an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours - tweeted back his congratulations.
The ladies' champion was also the winner from last year. Emily Marler, who plays off seven.
Marler, who is looking to pursue a career as a golf pro, works at the club shop and has already achieved her Level One coaching qualification.
It was the first time the club had played the men and ladies club championships over the same weekend, and club captain Garry Hartley hailed the move.
He said: "The atmosphere made the weekend a resounding success with players, friends and family watching the final groups come in on our 18th signature hole.
"We were all so proud to hear the news that Luke had received his well deserved MBE and had made the effort to tweet his congratulations to Adam."
