WEXHAM Park's Wednesday evening sessions for ladies have proved a great success this season.
They are designed to encourage those who have played a little golf to attain a handicap and learn more about the rules and etiquette from established members who help each week.
Running from the end of May to late August, there are weekly competitions and prizes. The evenings also provide an opportunity to meet other ladies and arrange games.
More than 45 ladies signed up this summer, with six gaining handicaps and another six well on the way.
On the final evening there was a nine hole Texas Scramble, with one helper playing with three new ladies, and the session ended with a prizegiving and supper.
The winners were Magaret Bruce, Joy Sharphouse, Pat Whapshare and Pat Fullick. [25a0] Wexham ladies raised £250 for the Florence Nightingale Hospice in Aylesbury from a Nine and Dine early evening event organised by ladies' captain Maria Brennan and attended by 38 players.
Teams of three played a Stableford over nine holes which was won by Maureen Bailey, Kay Shacklady and Gill Konrad who scored 35 points.
Runners-up Maria Brennan, Christina Pegg and Olga Hall scored 34.
