No win in eight for stuttering Saints

Chertsey Town 0-0 Chalfont St Peter

CHALFONT St Peter’s limp end to the season continued in a game that will not live long in the memory at Chertsey.

The Saints are without a win in eight games after this forgettable stalemate. The result took them down to 12th in the Division One Central table.

A top 10 finish is still possible for Danny Edwards’ side as their last game in their debut season at this level is a home game against relegated Fleet Town.

Saturdays’ game had a typical end-of-season feel to it before Saints striker David Lawrence forced a smart save from Chertsey stopper Jamie Norris.

The home side’s best chance came on the half-hour, when both Peter Biggs and Rob Carr had shots blocked from close range.

After a poor second half, honours were shared between two teams who were promoted last season, and are already eyeing up the close season and feeling happy with their efforts this term.
