Holmer Green 2-1 Hertford Town
A FIRST win in four games lifted Holmer Green's survival hopes.
A narrow home victory over fellow strugglers Hertford moved the Greens to within three points of safety.
Both sides lacked the quality to create chances in an uninspiring first-half but it was the home side who took the lead on 30 minutes.
A hopeful clearance upfield by Gary Finch was latched onto by Gary Lines who fired in the opener from 15 yards out.
Holmer should have gone in two-up at the break when Tom Alabaster squared for the onrushing Andy Shed but the striker blazed over with the goal gaping.
And they were punished immediately after the restart when Lee Roberts pounced on some static defending to level on 47 minutes.
Holmer had to weather a Town storm but regained the lead on 71 minutes when Lines sent in a teasing cross with Shed getting in front of his marker to head in the winning goal.
