A FOURTH staight defeat for Amersham Town has seen them without a win in seven league games.
Magpies boss Simon Damery fielded a number of new players in a bid to shake up his squad with youth keeper Henry Caven tipping a fierce shot onto the bar.
The home side took the lead for the second game running on 28 minutes when James Dabbs' shot hit the bar with Toby Francis reacting first to tap in.
Just when the Magpies felt they would take in a half-time lead, Ampthill equalised. Failure to clear their lines cost the home side on 43 minutes with Christian Lester stroking the ball in.
The visitors took the lead on 53 minutes in fortunate style. Craven dived to his left to save a shot but the ball hit the covering James Apps and fly into his own net for 1-2.
Magpies had chances to get back into the game with Francis having a shot saved and Fitzroy Williams having a chance blocked by Dave Murphy.
The defeat leaves Town in 18th place in the Spartan South Mids Division One.
