Amersham recorded their first league victory of the summer at newly-promoted Maidenhead & Bray - coming away with a comfortable seven wicket victory.
Asked to bowl first, Alex Lines and Chris Cann bowled very well for Amersham in their first spells and after 15 overs Maidenhead were 25-3. Lines recorded his first league wickets with successive balls in the 13th over.
Lines also played a key part as a fielder in restricting the Maidenhead total when his superb throw from the extra cover boundary to wicket-keeper Rob Vinney ran out the dangerous Charlie Roger.
Abhay Mayer and David Atkinson bowled tightly throughout, conceding three an over from the 18 they shared, and picking up a wicket each.
Chasing 161 to win, Chris Fleming was lbw for 15 before a partnership of 107 between Andy Viney (61) and Chris Cann (65 not out) which brought Amersham within 12 of victory.
Both batsmen played with positive intent throughout and the Maidenhead bowling attack could not match them, although there were a few edgy moments along the way.
Viney fell with victory in sight and it was left to Luke Jackson to accompany Cann across the line.
Both the second and third teams lost this week. The second XI scored 153 against Hampton Hill, Duncan Ward top-scoring with 50 in a three-wicket defeat. The third XI scored 203 against Boyne Hill thirds in another three-wicket loss. Ian Rogers hit a 50.
