Bull modest after penalty heroics

NIKKI Bull put his weekend penalty-saving heroics down to guesswork.

The 30-year-old denied MK Dons striker Jay O'Shea from the spot 10 minutes into their derby on Saturday - his third save in a row.

Wycombe went on to draw 1-1 with a stoppage time equaliser and Bull was in no doubt how important the point could be come the end of the season.

“It could be the point that keeps us up,” he said. “If you go one down in this league it is very hard to get back in the game so to make the save and go in at half-time at 0-0 was good.

“It is just guesswork and there is no pressure on goalkeepers. It is a bit of a lottery and if it goes the right way you have a chance to make the save.”

Bull was involved in the other box for the equaliser after coming up for the late corner and causing chaos in the Dons box to allow Stuart Beavon head home.

He said: “A few times this season we have been a goal down and the gaffer has never caught my eye. But he caught my eye straight away today and told me to go forward.

“I ran to the near post, because Gaz usually puts it at the near post, and I tumbled over and we scored. Someone spotted my run and went with me and it was brilliant.

“As a goalie you have to run somewhere no-one else is going. It came slightly towards me and I am on the floor. I didn't even know who had scored until I came into the dressing room.”
