Waddock happy with early Crewe pitch decision

Gary Waddock

GARY Waddock was happy for Crewe to hold a pitch inspection early to avoid his Wycombe side and fans wasting time making the 170-mile trip.

The Wanderers boss has had to move his players indoors with the training ground frozen and covered by snow this week.

Weather conditions have been harsher up at Gresty Road with temperatures plummeting and heavy snow coating the covers down on the pitch and the game was called off yesterday.

Waddock said: "It has been impossible for us to train on the pitch with the cold temperatures and then snow towards the end of the week.

"We have done some work indoors but it is not ideal. With the conditions we have had, the early the decisions can be made the better.

"It is not like it is just down the road and there is a lot of travelling involved for us and the fans."

A re-arranged date for the trip to Crewe has yet to be set.
