Exeter City 1-3 Wycombe
THE scoring partnership of Paul Hayes and Stuart Beavon lifted Wycombe out of the relegation zone on Tuesday night.
A brace for on-loan Hayes and goal from top scorer Beavon took their combined tally to 13 goals in six league games.
And their blossoming relationship helped Blues secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season and stretch their unbeaten run to four games with a late Sheffield Wednesday leveller against Walsall enough to see them climb out of the bottom four.
A tight first-half saw the teams head in level at the break but it was Wycombe who struck first after the restart when Hayes tapped in after a Beavon shot was parried by Lenny Pidgeley on 58 minutes.
They doubled their lead five minutes later through Beavon before a powerful James Dunne free-kick hauled the Grecians back into the game.
But it was to be Wycombe's night as Hayes headed in on 70 minutes to seal the crucial points.
