Youngsters taking part in Robertswood School's Roman day
ROBERTSWOOD School was invaded by Roman soldiers this week, when children spent the day learning about the ancient civilization.
Youngsters came to the school in Chalfont St Peter dressed up as Romans on Monday and took part in a number of Roman themed activities including bartering and haggling for supplies at a specially set up merchant's stall, making oil from olives for lamps, writing on beeswax tablets, trying their hand at mosaics and painting Roman style frescoes.
They also enjoyed a Roman banquet, sipping pretend wine from goblets and enjoying being served grapes by other children playing the role of slaves.
Teacher Lesley Hunter said: "It was a day to remember."
