A DENHAM teenager who was recently selected as Miss Buckinghamshire is set to try and claim the coveted Miss England crown.

Amber Gamble, 18, a student who is aiming to begin a Journalism degree at City University, London, is up against girls from across the country to win the prize.

She has done a variety of modelling work, but says that she never expected to be named as Miss Buckinghamshire.

She said: "I can honestly say that when entering Miss Buckinghamshire I was both shocked and surprised at what I found.

"To enter a beauty pageant has never been I would normally do but after hearing information about auditions being held in my county I was interested to what was involved and also what I could achieve.

"I couldn't believe my ears when I was announced the winner at the Miss Buckinghamshire final back in June.

"I was very excited for what was to come being both a representative for the county and taking part in the grand finals of Miss England.

"Winning Miss Buckinghamshire has inspired me in many ways. Before holding the title I have been involved in fundraising for charities but now I feel compelled to do more.

"MY focus now is to become successful in the Miss England finals and to not only follow in the footsteps of previous winners in being a great role model, but to take it one step further and boost the awareness of the changing nature of beauty pageants that the 21st century holds.

"Should I win I would love to continue to raise funds for a charity particularly close to my heart, the National Association of Crohn's and Colitis."
