Father raises concerns about model planes after son injured

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy suffered cuts and bruises when a remote-controlled plane hit him in the face.

Sonny Dalston was knocked to the ground by the 3ft-long aircraft while playing on Gold Hill Common, Chalfont St Peter.

He was there with his mother, Debbie, and brother, Dexter.

After being helped by a nurse and her family, who happened to be on the common, he was taken to hospital to have his wounds dressed and to have a check-up following the blow to his head.

His father, Mickey, said: "I would like to thank the family who went out of their way to help my wife after the accident.

"They helped to take her and our two sons home when Sonny was very shocked and soaked in blood. From there we took Sonny to hospital.

"While the common is a great place for families to go to relax and play a variety of games and sports, my plea would be that large, remote-controlled planes should not be flown there.

"The plane that hit my son was not a small model, but was about 3ft long and capable of flying at fast speeds.

"My worry is that next time an accident happens, rather than just some cuts and bruises, a more serious injury may occur, with a baby being hit or someone being hit in the eye."
