Children eager to hear tales of writer and illustrator

GIRLS at High March School in Beaconsfield had a treat when popular children's author An Vrombaut visited the school.

The creator of the children's television series 64 Zoo Lane spent time with six-year-olds explaining how she creates a book from scratch - from the first idea to the proofs, including the illustrations.

Amelia Harvey said: "An was fantastic.

"I liked it when she showed us a giant toothbrush for her book Smile Crocodile Smile."

Kolina Oliver-Denyer said: "I loved her stories because they have such lovely illustrations."

Teacher Beverly Mackay said: "The children had a fabulous day. They really loved hearing her tell the story of Dear Dragon.

"The children were so enthusiastic that many of them bought a book as a memento of the day.

"An not only signed them, but wrote a personalised message and did a little drawing in each book."
