MPs are said to be as hard as nails but Cheryl Gillan's had a treat when she was given a pampering by students.
The MP for Chesham and Amersham visited the Chalfonts Community College for a manicure on Friday (13/10)while she discussed education policy with headteacher Sue Tanner.
Mrs Gillan, who opted for a pink shade, said: "This is a hugely personal service and is an international qualification and can be taken anywhere around the world. The students are taking the highest level NVQ in beauty therapy. I think it's better than a lot of commercial salons."
She added: "I am having a luxury manicure here today and goodness knows I needed it."
The school's KarMa Academy was set up last year in the college's Chikara building to give beauty therapy students hands-on experience.
One of the founders Mary Holloway said: "We are bringing vocational opportunities into the school rather than students having to go to college."
Places on the course for students are available from September 2009, she added.
