Using music and meditation to heal mind and body

An occupational therapist is holding a sound meditation workshop in Chalfont St Giles.

Barbara Meadows, who lives in Chalfont St Peter, will host the event on August 16 and 17 at the Garden Association Hall, in School Lane.

The workshop is based on American research that suggests chanting and meditation can be used to target and treat areas of pain in the body. It has even been thought that sound mediation can be used in conjunction with chemotherapy to heal cancer patients.

Ms Meadows said: "The aim is to get people in touch with their bodies and locate the inner source of their discom-fort. Many people struggle on with their daily lives in emotional and physical pain, unable to fight it.

"In this two-day workshop I will try to show people how to hone in on the affected areas of their bodies and promote good health."

The workshop will incorporate several types of sound mediation, including a combination of music, chanting and vibrations to soothe and heal the soul.

Ms Meadows said: "Ideally the process needs to be carried out over a long period of time for the most effective results. These sessions will show people how to relate with their feelings and promote a healthy lifestyle."

[25a0] The course costs £60, payable in advance (places are limited). For more information or to book call Barbara on 01753 889 902.
