I was extremely heartened to read the ‘Letters’ this week, (December 25) and discover like minded local support for my views on BCC’s massive ongoing waste of tax payers money. I wonder if this is the tip of a sleeping giant which is on the verge of stirring and rising up? Post my earlier letter I also received a number supportive emails and telephone calls.

Action for the Bridleways of Chesham are extremely pleased with the decision of the Inspector who held the Public Inquiry into the application for BOAT (Byway Open to All Traffic) status for the three Chesham lanes, for turning down all three applications by the Trail Riders Federation. Trapps lane, Bottom Lane and Bunns Lane will remain bridleways.

So we have to walk the dog across the top of Lowndes Park to make you decide on giving planning permission, so you can see if it spoils the sky line of Chesham. Question, did they need it when they built White Hill School many years ago? You can see that from the park.

Given the plethora of 'celebrities' who reside around Amersham, it was somewhat disappointing to see that the Mayor only managed to attract a member of Thames Valley Police and an unknown Elvis impersonator to switch on the Christmas lights. Surely a more high-profile person is needed if it is to attract people out of their houses on a cold December evening.
