Film men ought to ride off into sunset

THE prospect of 1,400 new homes being built on Green Belt land under the guise of boosting the British film industry at Pinewood is shocking.

If the plans are granted they will be used by subsequent developers as the thin end of a wedge to destroy the character of South Bucks and other tracts of our still green and pleasant land.

Bereft of the make-believe glamour of the film world, Pinewood's proposals for urbanisation of Green Belt would not warrant a serious hearing.

The movie makers should be told politely to head for the sunset and seek another backdrop for their property speculations.
