Best ever GCSE results for St Mary's

GIRLS at St Mary's School achieved the school's best ever GCSE results this year, with every single pupil taking Chemistry, Biology and Spanish receiving an A*.

There was also huge success in Physics, with 83 per cent of pupils getting an A*, and in English Literature, History and Geography, all the grades were A*, A or B.

Overall, 24 per cent of the results were A*, 60 per cent were A* or A and 88 per cent were A*, A or B.

Among the best performing pupils were Helena Pickford, 16, who achieved eight A* grades and two As, and Lucy Marshall, also 16, who achieved eigth A*s and one A.

Jean Ross, headmistress of the private school in Packhorse Road, Gerrards Cross, said: "I am delighted to see the girls this year have achieved the best ever GCSE results at St. Mary’s.

"I am thrilled that they have fulfilled their potential with so many A* and A grades, which reflects the hard work of both pupils and staff."
