Too many chiefs?

IT IS encouraging to see the councils taking action to save money in a bid to protect our front-line services. But is this really going to be the case?

The question Councillor Justine Fulford, leader of the Chiltern Liberal Democrat group, asked - whether we were getting value for money before by having three chief executives - is a good point.

Have we just been wasting our money all these years paying for huge salaries for three people to do a job that can, essentially, be managed by one person?

Or is this role in fact going to be too much pressure for that single person to handle, which in turn could affect the quality of services provided?

We hope the councils have put a lot of thought into this so they can effectively save money without jeopardising our services.
