Bogus charity workers plague Stoke Poges

STOKE Poges residents have been hit recently by a spate of bogus charity workers collecting money and clothes from their doors.
Over the last few months, leaflets have been posted through homes, often from people with Eastern European accents and limited English.
The charities, when checked out, have at times found to be using the names of businesses which either no longer exist or never have.
Naomi Arnold of Stoke Poges parish council said: "All too often these leaflets are being circulated by commercial undertakings who will be selling the clothes for profit and it is doubtful that there is any benefit for charity at all."
South Bucks District Council (SBDC) recommends that anyone who does claimto be a charity worker should be able to produce identification, and that if people are still unsure then they should contact the council.
Miss Arnold added: "A recent article in the Daily Telegraph pointed out that genuine charity shops are losing some £2.5 to £3m a year, due to these bogus companies and their misleading leaflets.
"I would urge residents to please check that the collection is genuine and if there is any doubt, don't don
