Saints back on track

Molten Spartan South Midlands League (Premier Division)

Biggleswade United 1
Chalfont St Peter 3
(Half-time 1-1)

A HEAVY defeat at the hands of Harefield United on Saturday meant Chalfont St Peter only had to wait three days to bounce back which they did in a 3-1 away win at Biggleswade United on Tuesday night.
The win was enough to move the Saints into sixth place in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division just three points off the leaders and with two games in hand.

The visitors started brightly in Bedfordshire with Bradley Bubb and Charlie Strutton both going close with goalbound efforts in the early part of the game and both times being denied by the Biggleswade goalkeeper.
The Saints took the lead on 17 minutes when Strutton pounced on a loose rebound in the penalty area to score.
Jason Darvall gave the hosts an equaliser against the run of play with their only effort of the half when rounding off a slick four man move.
Shocked by conceding Chalfont pushed forward with Bubb having another shot blocked and Carroll having a header scrambled off the line.
The second half followed much the same pattern and after Walsh had a shot pushed around the post Chalfont finally scored on 74 minutes when a slick move ended with Bubb's through ball to Strutton who cooly rounded the goalkeeper to slot home for 2-1.
Bradley Bubb completed the scoring when he managed to steal in at the near post to convert a Terrell Lewis cross on 81 minutes.
The Saints will hope to continue their impressive league form when they visit stuggling Colney Heath on Saturday and host fourth place Hertford Town on Tuesday night.
Chalfont St Peter: Power-Simpson, Collins (Nott-Macaire), Louth, Walsh, Carroll, Hedley, Bunce, Hughes, Lewis, Bubb, Strutton. Not used: Welsh, Okimo, Edwards.
