A ONE day speeding blitz saw 45 drivers stopped and £720 in fines issued by police working in conjunction with a neighbourhood action group (NAG).
With speeding identified as one of the major concerns for residents living within the Hundreds NAG's jurisdiction, officers took their speed gun to the roads on July 24 in an effort to remind drivers that they are working closely with the NAG to enforce its priorities.
Narcot Lane in Chalfont St Giles, Austenwood Lane in Chalfont St Peter, School Lane in Seer Green and Church Lane in Penn were all targeted by a team of three police officers and four PCSOs.
The money from the fines will be used for further traffic initiatives.
A total of 32 drivers were stopped and let off with a warning.
However, the fact that 29 of the 32 drivers that were stopped were local to their areas, gave Sergeant Steve Slee, some cause for concern.
He said: "It is the residents that say there is a problem with speeding but then it was the residents that we caught speeding.
"You are always going to get people speeding no matter what.
"However, I think we are slowly educating residents about their speed and they are beginning to realise that we will continue to do this until we see a vast improvement."
Areas covered by the Hundreds NAG:
Chalfont St Giles,
Seer Green,
Penn,
Coleshill,
Winchmore Hill,
Knotty Green
Jordans.
