Beaconsfield
The British Fuchsia Society's London show will be held on Sunday, August 12 at The Beaconsfield School, Wattleton Road from 12.30-4.30pm. There are classes in the show for everything from large hanging baskets, to bonsai, from giant standard fuchsias to miniatures. There will be between 500-700 top quality plants in all shapes and sizes as well as demonstrations on growing fuchsias and enthusiasts available to give cultural information and plant identification. Cost is £2 for adults, £1 OAPs and children and free entrance for members of the British Fuchsia Society. For further details call Carol Gubler on 01252 329731.
Bounce & Rhyme with Sing & Rhyme takes place at Beaconsfield Library on Friday, August 3. Everyone welcome – no tickets required.
Beaconsfield and District Historical Society trip to Kenilworth Castle and Stoneleigh Abbey takes place on Thursday, August 9 from 9am-6.30pm. Cost £20 per person or £15 for National Heritage members. For more details contact Chantal Weiss on 01494 673479.
Music for a Summer Evening – Terry McNamara will be giving an organ recital in St Mary's Church on Saturday, August 11 at 7.30pm. Terry used to be the organist in Langres Cathedral, which is the town twinned with Beaconsfield. Admission is by voluntary donation that means this is a concert everyone can afford. Refreshments will be served. Funds raised will be divided by St Mary's Raise the Roof Appeal and Beaconsfield Twinning Association. Jazz Club @ Beaconsfield is on a Wednesday from 8.30-11pm at Beaconsfield SYCOB. Admission £6 unless otherwise stated. Dates for this month are: August 8 – Colin Kingwell's Jazz Bandits; August 15 – Gambit Jazzmen; August 22 – New Washboard Syncopaters; August 29 – Frog Island.
