CHALFONT St Peter remain unbeaten after four games of the new Spartan League campaign, putting them in good shape for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Hamble.
However, they dropped their first points on Tuesday when they were held to a draw in a 3-3 thriller at Mill Meadow by Oxhey Jets – an early table-top clash.
The Saints equalised twice through Alan Hedley (first half) and Danny Stone (second half) before taking the lead when Terrell Lewis somehow found the far corner from a seemingly impossible angle.
Ten minutes from time Jets took advantage of a partial clearance to draw level and made sure of a share of the points when they denied Bradley Bubb in the final minutes.
On Saturday, Chalfont had continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win at Leverstock Green’s Pancake Lane ground with a goal in each half from Jerome Okimo and Lewis.
Relegated Beaconsfield SYCOB are enjoying life back in the Spartan League with new manager Jamie Jarvis. The Rams took six points from their August Bank Holiday weekend and are now riding high in the table.
Oliver Godwin’s goal in time added on clinched the 2-1 win at Hertford Town on Saturday, after Stuart Swift had equalised with a penalty, and on Monday the Rams inflicted a first defeat of the season on Tring Athletic.
Tring took the lead from the spot, but SYCOB hit back with two goals in two minutes right after the break, through Michael Currie and Godwin. Swift sealed it with a penalty in the 70th minte.
The Rams host Hungerford in the FA Cup on Sunday (3pm).
Holmer Green, who had bowed out of the FA Cup 1-0 against an experienced Melksham Town side, almost got their first win of the season on Saturday but succumbed to a late penalty and it ended 1-1. Daddy Moses scored Green’s goal.
On Tuesday, Green were outgunned 3-0 at Aylesbury Vale.
In Division One, Amersham Town, who lost out to Brache Sparta 2-1 on Saturday, scored their first win of the season on Tuesday with a resounding 4-1 success at New Bradwell St Peter. Reon Thomas scored a hat-trick (including a penalty) and Jude Eboji netted from the spot late on.
