ANDREW Crux, pictured, of Denham Golf Club recorded a new amateur course record on the Knowl Hill course on Wednesday, May23 to become the Castle Royle Masters champion.
His cumulative score of 138 also set a new tournament record.
As part of the BB&O Order of Merit schedule, the event attracted a strong field of 71 players, drawn from 45 clubs.

After the morning round, Crux was one of 14 players within four shots of the lead held by county player Ashley Walton (Frilford Heath) who, with 70, was one stroke ahead of Gordon Forster (Porters Park).
Crux clinched it with a superb display of golf in the afternoon.
Starting on the 10th, he eagled both the 13th and 15th par 5s. He then birdied the difficult 18th to record 31 shots for his outward nine holes.
On his inward half, Crux continued his run with birdies at the 3rd and 4th, with the only blemish being a bogey on the 2nd. He finished with a round of 66 to win by three strokes from Walton.
