M40 latest news

Posted by Julie Voyce on May 31, 2007 2:36 PM |

Emergency services remain on the scene of a collision on the M40 this morning, May 31.
Between six and eight vehicles are believed to be involved in the crash, in which three people died and 11 were injured. Investigations into the collision are still ongoing, however it appears a lorry travelling on the northbound carriageway crossed the central reservation and collided with vehicles on the southbound carriageway.
The M40 remains closed in both directions and is not expected to reopen until at least 4.30pm.

The traffic around the site of the collision has been cleared and all other vehicles are being diverted off the motorway to rejoin at junction three. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Insp Steve Bridges, said: “Collision investigators are on scene working to establish the cause of the collision. We are especially interested in anyone who saw a white flatbed lorry loaded with blue pallets travelling northbound from the M25 to junction three at High Wycombe.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
