ABOUT 50 people turned out for the Gerrards Cross annual parish meeting on Wednesday, March 28.
parish council chairman Peter Chapmann apologised to the public for the delay in cleaning silt out of Latchmoor Pond, on West Common.
“The work we wanted to do at the pond at the end of last year did not go at all as we had planned,” he said.
“We told lots of you that we were going to do it, but it did not happen.”
A deal to take the silt to a landfill site proved too costly, legislation needed to be sought for removal, and plans to take it to a farm were scuppered by the high concentration of nitrates – courtesy of the ducks.
By the time the council sorted these problems out, the pond had filled up again.
Residents asked the council what could be done about parking and speeding in the village, and were briefed on the Tesco issue and the Buckinghamshire County Council consultation to reduce library hours.
Concerns were also raised about bus services and the loss of the 300. County Councillor Peter Roberts said the county council were looking into increasing the 305 from a two- an-hour to a one-an-hour service.
