Stevenage 1-1 Wycombe
GRANT Basey fired in a stoppage time penalty to ensure Wycombe enjoyed late drama for the second week running.
The left-back made no mistake with a pressure penalty as Wanderers looked set to go down to a harsh defeat at the Lamex Stadium.
It means they remain two points from safety and keep their unbeaten run going.
They competed well with promotion-chasing Boro in a game that had plenty of bite and commitment from both sides.
But they looked set for defeat to the play-off hopefuls when Michael Bostwick struck with four minutes to go but Basey held his nerve after Craig Easmond was fouled in the box late on.
Blues' top scorer Stuart Beavon had an early sighter with a free-kick before goalkeeper Nikki Bull pulled off a point-blank save to stop a Scott Laid header.
The miss of the game was provided by Boro's Lawrie Wilson who looked certain to score but sliced his shot wide from eight yards on 22 minutes.
Wycombe struggled to create much in the first-half with Chris Hackett seeing a shot parried and Ben Strevens firing the rebound into the side netting.
Boro started the second-half well with captain Mark Roberts heading over and Luke Freeman forcing Bull to tip over a long-range effort.
But Wycombe put the home side under pressure themselves in a decent second-half spell with Beavon seeing his near post shot blocked by Day before blasting narrowly just before the hour mark.
The breakthrough came on 86 minutes when Michael Bostwick fired in a 20-yard effort with four minutes to play.
But, after Eastmond was tumbled in the box, the unlikely Basey stepped up to rifle home the penalty to earn a late point for the second week running.
